Amazon.com Product Description
The remanufactured Panasonic SV-AV100 D-snap digital video recorder uses small Secure Digital (SD) memory cards (it comes with one 512 MB card) to capture digital movies or still shots, giving you total mobility while filming. The device records in MPEG2 format, which ensures a picture quality that rivals DVDs. In both Fine and Normal modes, images are recorded at the same rate used in TV broadcasts, producing clear, natural-looking pictures with a smooth-flowing motion. Users also have the option of recording in MPEG4 format--commonly used for Web or e-mail video--which produces action footage without a choppy, "frame by frame" effect but that still compresses nicely. MPEG4 footage is also viewable on a compatible PC or TV.
In addition, the camera sports a 2.5-inch diagonal LCD monitor that rotates a full 270 degrees, giving you more shooting flexibility. The rotating lens also makes it much easier to include yourself in the scene. Meanwhile, the advanced Super Image Stabilizer (SIS) helps prevent the video jitter that often results from hand movements. And if traditional video footage isn't good enough, you can also shoot 340,000-pixel digital still photos with the SV-AV100. The latter feature is particularly handy for casual, memo-style snapshots. In addition, scenes from both the moving and still images are displayed as thumbnails, making it easy to find a specific file or delete unwanted scenes. And users needn't worry about accidental overwriting, as they can edit images on the spot.
Once you've captured your footage, you can take all your precious memories and make DVDs with a unit such as the DMR-E100H DVD recorder. The device can store and edit the material without requiring a PC. Plus, the DMR-E100H has a built-in SD memory card slot, so you don't need to hassle with additional wires or cables: simply transfer the SD card from the SV-AV100 to the recorder. It's that simple.
An added bonus is the camera's transfer options. For instance, if you recorded the big game but aren't sure when you'll get a chance to watch it, you can connect the camera to a VCR or DVR, and then transfer the content directly onto the SV-AV100's memory card. Once the transfer is complete, you can watch the game any time you want--right in the palm of your hand.
Additional features include a 10x optical zoom for dynamic shooting (along with a 25x digital zoom); a backlight compensation function; and a battery life of approximately 60 minutes of video footage or 600 still pictures. The compact camera measures a mere 1.31 by 3.54 by 2.56 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a 90-day warranty on parts and labor.
