Product Description

Amazon.com Review
Based on a classic French design from 1829, these elegant 5-1/2-inch cheese knives are perfect for serving a variety of cheeses at your next cocktail party. The set includes a spatula-shaped knife that is ideal for spreading soft cheeses such as Brie or Chevre or cutting wedges from Roquefort or Morbier. The knife with the bell-shaped blade is best used on semi-hard cheeses, such as Emmental, Provolone, or Fourme. The heart-shaped knife handles the hardest cheeses, such as Parmigiano-Reggiano or Pecorino-Romano. The stainless-steel knives have full tangs that are triple-riveted to the pistol-grip handles. The handles are made of rosewood--a beautiful and durable reddish-brown hardwood--with stainless-steel accents. A decorative bee, based on the emblem of Napoleon I, sits on top of the bolster. These knives should be hand washed to preserve the edge on the blades and the hardwood handles. The set comes packaged within an in-drawer storage tray and makes a wonderful bridal or hostess gift. --Cristina Vaamonde

Product Description
Laguiole, a small French mountain town about 350 miles south of Paris, is famous for its cattle, its cheese, and its cutlery. The original Laguiole knife was made by ironsmiths in 1829, as a farmers tool. This farmers tool was refined into the Laguiole Steak Knife, which is used today by many famous French restaurants. The Laguiole with its gentle carving blade, the elongated pistol grip handle and small BEE set into the bolster has been the focus of many stories passed down from generation to generation. The BEE is cut out of steel and decorates the handle. The BEE originally came from an award following a courageous act during a campaign under Napoleon I, when the Imperial Emblem was given as a reward!
